In the period from 14 to 16 December 2017 in Kyustendil, Bulgaria was held the Final Conference of the project “Bulgarian – Macedonian Cross Border Cooperation for Capacity building for Competitiveness and Innovation”.
The conference was attended by more than 100 participants, among which representatives of the project teams of the four project partners, engaged experts, consultants and collaborators of the project, as well as representatives from the various stakeholder groups from the private, public and civil sector.
The Conference was officially opened with welcome speeches by Mr. Yordan Belovodski representative of the Chamber of commerce and industry of Kyustendil, Acad. Taki Fiti, president of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts and Prof. Dr. Mitko Dimitrov representative of the Economic Research Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
During the conference, Mr. Dimitar Tashevski, director of the Foundation for small and medium enterprises development Kumanovo, presented the basic goals, main activities and expected results of the project.
A central place at the Final conference had the presentation of the results from the Survey, which within the project was conducted on a total of 300 local enterprises – 150 enterprises from the North-east region in Macedonia and 150 enterprises from the Kyustendil district in Bulgaria. The Survey was mainly focused on the aspects of innovation, competitiveness, regional development and cross-border cooperation between the two participating countries in the project.
At the same time, on the Conference were presented the recommendations which arose during the project implementation. The recommendations refer to specific proposals, solutions, and suggestions in the direction of improving the situation in the field of innovation and competitiveness of the two countries. The recommendations that are an integral part of the final publication of the project are intended for the Central Government and Local Self-Government of the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Bulgaria.
During the Final conference, issues related to cross-border development and cooperation, competitiveness and innovation of local enterprises and administration from both countries were opened and discussed, as well as the issues related to the socio-economic development of the Bulgarian-Macedonian cross-border region.
